Who we are

The working boundary

When a service animal is working, speak to the handler. Never the animal.
- Do not touch or pet.
- Do not talk to or call.
- Do not whistle or wave.
- Do not feed or command.
- Do not deliberately seek eye contact.
- Do not bring another animal into the team’s space.
A friendly interruption is still an interruption. Do not retrain someone else’s service animal.

For handlers whose disability-related use of a service animal is supported by producible documentation from a regulated health professional.
This badge does not certify the animal, assess training or create legal access rights.

Identification supports communication. It never replaces training, appropriate public behaviour or handler responsibility.

William P. Taylor
William founded SAPIA from nearly two decades of lived experience using service animals. He has spent almost 25 years with Boerboels, trained and shown his own dogs, prepared dogs for service training, and relied on the breed as service animals for close to 20 years.
His expertise comes from real life: training, handling, public access, public interference and the standards a legitimate working team requires.

SAPIA welcomes clearly defined conversations with businesses, events, first responders, service providers and community organizations that want to improve working-team safety and public understanding.
Support may include public-etiquette information, printable awareness material, short staff guidance, website infrastructure or safer event practices. Nothing is announced until the arrangement is agreed and approved.
